A Life of Service and Leadership for Ohio District 09
Wayne Kinsel's campaign for U.S. Congress, Ohio District-09, is rooted in a lifetime of service and a deep love for his country and home state. A decorated military veteran and community advocate, Wayne offers strategic leadership and a proven ability to get results.
His journey began with rigorous training as a United States Air Force enlisted member and then as an officer candidate at the Air Force Academy, leading to a distinguished career as a Civil Engineering Officer. But his commitment to service extends beyond the military; it's a calling he continues to answer in his local Sylvania community. He currently serves as the Sylvania Rotary Club President; an active member of Fitness, Fellowship, Faith (F3) Toledo; Sylvania Saint Joseph Parish; the Catholic War Vets; volunteering his service to the greater Toledo area.
Wayne grew up in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a once-thriving industrial hub that, like many American towns, has faced economic hardship. Witnessing his hometown's population shrinking by more than half, he understood the desire for opportunity. In 1995, he enlisted in the Air Force, seeking a path forward, just as countless other sons and daughters from Ohio have done. That experience has shaped his mission to fight for a brighter future for the families of Ohio's 9th District.
A Family Man and Community Pillar
Beyond his professional and military service, Wayne Kinsel is a devoted family man and an active community member in Sylvania, Ohio. He and his wife, Amy Truckor Kinsel, a clinical pharmacist, are raising their 13-year-old daughter, Lauren.
Amy, a Metamora native and a daughter of a fourth-generation farming family, supported Wayne throughout his military career and now works for Humana's Medicare line of business. Their daughter, Lauren, is a busy teenager involved in school, the Fulton County 4-H club, and St. Joseph Catholic Parish.
In a powerful display of compassion, the Kinsel’s opened their home to a Ukrainian family in December 2022 through the "Toledo Helps Ukraine" non-profit organization. This act of kindness underscores their commitment to making a tangible difference and helping those in need.
The Kinsel family has been a part of the Sylvania community since 2020, where they cherish the unique blend of rural and suburban life. They love to host gatherings around their fire pit and enjoy the abundant wildlife in their neighborhood.
